Lost Today

depressed
lonely
hallucinating
demons rise
bowls fly
he’s terrified—

in math class
he draws a gun,
a bleeding body
writes, 

the thoughts won't stop, 
help me

but no one does—
bullets rain
another mass shooting
refrain
students die
a mother cries,

lives were lost today,
he’s going to have to suffer
