This weekend has been busy but fun. We drove to Des Moines, and although I had a huge issue trying to find a place to park, we eventually landed at the Wells Fargo Arena to watch my niece cheer between the boys basketball championship games. She is part of a select team of girls chosen across the state who are chosen by their skills and personality. Lauren shined and all the girls that created this year’s Iowa All State Cheer Team rocked. I was very much impressed.

I loved seeing the sophisticated moves of the cheerleaders. It was a lot like watching a marching band performance. They literally had girls lifted in the air while moving past each other as though they were chariots. I do not think I can accurately describe this, but believe me, it was fantastic.

I also loved being able to see my family!

Jim, my brother-in-law standing left of my husband Mark both wearing t-shirts that we all wore to support Lauren’s event.
Lauren with her nephew and my great-nephew, Theo.
My sister with great-nephew, Theo. My brother and her twin is the man right behind her wearing the glasses.
My other great-nephew, Ace, with his mother Courtney, who is also my niece.

Before leaving the event, we all had a group photo taken.

Obviously, Lauren was well-supported!

That’s awesome you all went down to cheer her on! I’m from Iowa too and Wells Fargo is always hard to find a place, but especially during sports tournamentss! UGH

Barb, I love the “Cheer Squad” t-shirts and love watching cheerleaders. They are amazingly talented and athletic. All the photos are wonderful. Your sister looks like you and is very pretty. I know the moves you described. The school where I taught 30 years has amazing cheerleaders, and the team recently won a national cheer competition. They’ve been state champs the past 8-10 years and we’re always some of my favorite students. Bravo, Lauren!
