I remember being in college and treating my “carless” friends with road trips to Stone City to admire the beauty of Jones County. After I graduated, I relocated to a small town where I suffered some of the worst culture shock I’ve ever experienced. I grew up in the Marion/Cedar Rapids, Iowa area and I had no idea that everyone would be so interested in my business. I am quite sure that I’ve never recovered from that time period in my life for multiple reasons. However, I did meet some great friends along the way.

One such friend was Raldo Schneider who used to perform at the Old Mill in Stone City. Perhaps he still does. You might enjoy this old video of him singing “Home Brew” which reminds me I have some pretty heavy duty corn whiskey in my garage refrigerator where only nefarious brews are stored. Perhaps I’ll listen while enjoying a sip or two….

    Barb,

That song is the best. The singer reminds me of Kip Ataway, a man social from Jackson Hole. I’d love to see a photo of the inside of that fridge. Love the poem, too, especially the third line.

I cannot take a picture of the fridge without incriminating myself. LOL!

I enjoyed their picking and strumming, and I am chuckling at your refrigerator with “nefarious brews.” Your poem speaks to me – I love live music, and particularly good guitar playing.

Barb, that refrigerator sounds fun! Enjoy your sip or two break today. I love this line especially in your poem “my every heartstring strummed.” What a great metaphor.
