Yesterday the weather was gorgeous. I took a long stroll off the beaten path and tried to capture some of the more interesting things along the way.
My neighbor S. A. is a lover of antiques and garage sales. She’s put her creative crafting skills to beautify the gravel road that leads towards several cabins along the Mississippi River.
Another piece of S. A.’s artistic flair: bottle art.
While I was walking, I noticed the air was filled with bird calls and a what I believed to be a cacophony of frogs croaking. The air was kind of balmy but not too hot. Truly a day full of spring promise.
Another of S. A.’s creations. A converted wire corn crib for enjoying the river while trying to protect oneself from the insects that can be annoying. The black specks on the water are ducks.
A gull. Trying to capture their beauty is impossible for me. Someone with a better camera, I think could. These gulls wheel gracefully through the sky.
Near the end of my walk, and prior to the long walk back up a steep hill, I stopped to take a photo of another neighbor’s sign. They no longer live in the home they once had but have maintained some river front property they’ve aptly named as noted in the photo.
I made it back up the hill. A few things to note: Coconut was the name of our neighbor’s beloved dog. Our postal address is Keokuk, but this area is actually named Sandusky.
