My morning would not be complete without checking my phone and email for important messages. Today at close to 7:40 a.m. as it could be, I was able to view my newest great nephew’s chubby sweet face via a phone text. Weighing in at 9 lbs. 10 oz., Charley arrived last night around 10:13 p.m.

Where would we be without our phones to share such joyful pictures? Same with email. It’s such a convenient way to receive long messages. Although I receive so much email that if my email turned into junk mail in a physical mailbox, it would be undeliverable.

For the past few days, I was becoming increasingly anxious about Charley’s birth as he was about a week overdue. Recently, I predicted his weight, and I was very close. All of my sons were quite large. It’s a thing. Plus, his adorable chubby face looked similar to my own baby boys’ birth faces.

It will probably be some time before I get to meet Charley in person, but I will get busy cross-stitching a bib with his name on it. I’m sure he will be an athlete as his parents are athletes. I try to think of a little something to add to the bib, but I doubt it will be a soccer ball or something along that line. Maybe a kite to represent his birth being in March. I can’t wait to dig into that project but today I have to be off to set up a watercolor painting class.

The sun is shining, and the Women's Hawkeye Basketball team won their first tournament game last night. More importantly, Charley was born and there's a painting class this morning for several people to enjoy. Feeling pure joy! Hope your day is blessed, too!

Welcome, Charley!

    Barb,

Two wonderful events: Charlie’s birth and the team’s win. Ignore other news and enjoy the afterglow of those moments of joy. BTW, my babies (both boys) were also big.

I love your sweet poem to mark Charlie’s birth! I also get to use my phone to face time with my 2 year old granddaughter. She says, “Hi, Memaw.”

Oh, I forgot to include another similarity we have: our boys basketball team won at the district level. They are playing tomorrow night in the sectional. Our team hasn’t been that far since 1959, when Uncle Jerry played on the winning then finally losing team.
