Listening to the news is practically a full-time event at our home, but between the hours of 5 to 6 p.m., it’s definitely something that is happening. One of the stories I have been most interested in lately is about the astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore coming home, and fortunately, after being stuck in space for 9 months, they have safely landed.

I cannot imagine living in space for that long, and I am amazed how positive Suni and Butch have been during this entire time. Being away from friends and family without fresh vegetables and fruit sounds horrifying. Plus, readjusting to gravity has to be weird. I’ve also read how impactful being in space can have on your health. Yikes! Suni shares some interesting details about living in space in this YouTube video.

I am happy they are home, and I’m happy to enjoy the beauty Earth has to offer so I thought I’d share a few photos that help me stay grounded.

Marcus with his dogs Zeke and Mila. Zeke is on the left and recently passed. Big heartbreak.
Our three granddaughters with their mom and dad. Ahhh, the love, and isn’t that background gorgeous:)

    Barb,

I skipped news this weekend so haven’t paid much attention to the astronauts. I could not stomach Orangey saying Biden abandoned them in space. He lies about everything. I’m glad they pushed back on that. I love the title of this post juxtaposed w/ “things that keep me grounded.” The photos are wonderful, and yes, that Colorado background is gorgeous. I also love the creek background. All the photos are gorgeous.

I agree about the hateful orangey comment. Just another glaring example of why he is hideous.

Barb, I’m glad the astronauts made it safely home too. So much to think about in terms of the part of life on earth that was missed. It’s great to see all your family with feet on the ground in the photos, and I’m so sorry about the loss of Zeke.

For me too, the news can be a lot. I love the way you refocused your “safe landing” points to remind you about what’s important. Thank you for sharing this perspective. I needed this!

Barb, thank you for sharing. I haven’t seen much news lately; I get so angry that they make the stories sound like we are in a normal chapter of life. I’m glad the astronauts are back safely. The photos are wonderful. Family is such a gift.
